An SFP ("small form-factor pluggable transceiver") is a transmitter/receiver which interfaces a network device motherboard (e.g. in a switch, router) to a fibre optic or copper network cable. The enhanced small form-factor pluggable (SFP+) is an enhanced version of the SFP that supports data rates up to 10 Gbit/s. The "SFP+ ports quantity" is the number of ports for SFP+ connections in a device.

This terminates the end of an optical fiber, and enables quicker connection and disconnection than splicing. The connectors mechanically couple and align the cores of fibers so light can pass. Better connectors lose very little light due to reflection or misalignment of the fibers. In all there have been about 100 types of optic fiber connectors produced.
