The digital announcer shall be capable of recording and play back of audio files that are created via the attachment of a microphone or from pre-recorded WAV files.
These WAV files are directly stored to a supplied 1 GB memory card within the unit that can be accessed from the front panel. An additional memory slot shall be available for backup purposes. The WAV files can be distributed automatically, activated by an external device, in timed and repeated fashion, with a broadcast quality of 44.1kHz/32 kHz sampling rate, 16 bit PCM and a frequency response of 20 Hz – 20 kHz.
Creation and editing of various sound source files and programs, updating of settings and activation of announcements shall be by direct input or managed remotely via a network.
The digital announcer shall be able to store 32,768 WAV files (phrases) and 256 audio programs on its memory card that can be edited directly by inputting new phrases or combing pre-recorded phrases. Any combination of program files and WAV files can be achieved. A maximum of 3 hours at 44.1 kHz sampling rate, or 4 hours at 32kHz sampling rate can be achieved
Network shall be made possible using RJ45 connection via switching hub. Network I/F: 100BASE-TX Auto-Negotiation utilizing network protocol TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, FTP.
The unit shall be able to prioritise pre-recorded emergency broadcast messages that will take precedence over any output signal that may be already being broadcast.
The unit shall have pre-recorded WAV samples that may be used.

The broadcasting zones and number or lengths of repeat broadcasts can be set in advance. The unit shall be able to broadcast R.E.M. (Recording Endless Message) enabling operators to create/initiate repeated play back of emergency announcements quickly and evacuate with other occupants before anticipated emergencies.
The digital announcer shall include intuitive GUI (Graphic User Interface) control software for PC operation and settings, which will allow networked location to create, edit, store and activate broadcast programs. The timing of new or edited programs and settings can be synchronized so that programs are broadcast simultaneously in every location on the network.
The software shall have two modes: Full-function mode for management or detailed settings by equipment administrator and Simple mode for basic operation.
Power requirements shall be 24 VDC (plug-in screw connector) or an optional AC adapter.
It shall use only one EIA component rack space and its dimensions shall be 420 (W) × 44 (H) × 222 (D) mm (16.54" × 1.73" × 8.74") Weight shall be 2.4 kg (5.29 lb.) and finished in black aluminium front panel with surface-treated steel plate case.
