Powering by USB
The HVE290 can be powered by the included PSU, but also, conveniently, by a suitable USB source. This is particularly useful at the source end where you may have several sender units and one PSU with one mains plug can power them all (depending on how many outputs the USB power supply has). At the received (TV) end, if the TV provides sufficient power, then you can power the receiver from the TV, so no PSU is needed at all, making for a very tidy installation.
IMPORTANT : Whatever USB power source you use - TV, mains PSU or another supply, it is vital that the port can provide sufficient power. The required rating for the HVE290 is 1 Amp (1000mA) @ 5VDC. Most TVs cannot provide that power, others will have multiple USB ports with different ratings. PCs can rarely provide 1000mA. The HVE290 actually only uses around 700-800mA normally, but 1000mA is a safe rating. If you provide insufficient power or try to draw more than the supply is capable of, the units can malfunction or the supply could be damaged.
For a mains powered USB power supply, select one with enough outputs and sufficient power per port. For example, a 6 port supply will need to be capable of 6 Amps (6000mA) if you wish to run 6 HVE290 sender units.
